| These are some of the pictures I took when I just returned from my trip to get the car. Read the story. | |
| Some pics of the interior and engine. Everything needs a little TLC. This car has a custom cloth interior. I have been reluctant to replace because of how comfortable it is and how it's won't stick to your skin on those really hot days. But somehow I need to get it to match! | |
| Stripped the paint. Can you believe there were 5 layers of paint on this car. The factory yellow, then red, then a sky blue, the red, and then another "lighter" red seen above. In some spots the paint was as much as 1/8 of an inch thick! But nothing a lot of "Aircraft Remover" couldn't handle. | |
| Took out old carpet which was your standard "home" carpet with a thin pad glued to the floor. May have been nice when it was first installed, but kept lots of moisture on the metal. | |
| Some new sheet metal and a little putty in the wheel arches. | |
| Some more sheet metal repairs in the floorpan | |
| Grinding and sanding, and sanding, and sanding and sanding and..... | |
| Lets start the painting! | |
| Fresh coat of paint, new wheels and some cleaner trim pieces borrowed off a junked '80 Spider. I found over $1500 (retail) in parts in one $150 junkyard find. For another $150 I could have had the whole car. Only if I had the garage space! | |
| Before and After. Not bad, but still a lot of work to do. But no time to waste, winter's over, let's go driving! | |
